A Gastroenterologist is a physician with dedicated training in the management of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and the liver. This requires an additional 3-year period of specialized Fellowship training after Residency in Internal Medicine. The training is a structured, intense rigorous program where fellows learn directly from nationally recognized experts, receive dedicated training in endoscopy by expert instructors and participate in research leading to presentations at national meetings and publications in prestigious journals.
